My first conversation with an American made me feel a kind of way

Disclaimer: I obviously spoke in English plenty while I was traveling! But I could tell I was holding back, adjusting my word choice and annunciating differently the whole time. The past week or so I’ve had so many conversations in my very garbled Spanish, and speaking to an American this morning hit different.
